Coldest temps of the season expected around Portland this weekend
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A taste of winter moves into the Pacific Northwest this weekend as early morning lows fall below freezing.
The coldest temperatures of the season so far are expected across the greater Portland, Vancouver area this weekend. Early morning lows will struggle to sit above 30 degrees on Saturday morning through the start of next week. Afternoon highs will remain below average by several degrees on Saturday and Sunday. That means highs will continue to sit in the low to mid 40s through the start of next week.
Colder morning lows and afternoon highs are far better than the sub-zero temperatures expected this next week for much of the country. While much of the United States falls into a deep freeze, Portland prepares for a gradual warming trend.
The gradual warming trend will eventually bring the chance of rain back into the region late in the week. By the time rain chances return, Portland will have nearly gone 10 days without any measurable rain.
A sun, cloud mix will remain as highs return to the mid and upper 40s by the end of the week. Rain isn't expected until Friday.
