Banking on well-rested Chiefs, backing Jayden Daniels and the best bets of the NFL Divisional Round
I told y’all to fade my picks last week as the playoffs loomed and I felt suspiciously good about five plays. Good news if you did; it was the only way to make money through this column in the Wild Card Round.
The Los Angeles Chargers crumbled before they could give the world a proper Chargers-ing, the Minnesota Vikings shrank into a corn cob and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers couldn’t keep Jayden Daniels from thriving. By those powers combined our picks — our resident expert the Rhode Island Scumbag and I — went 4-4 for a combined profit of… -1 unit.
The good (?) news is I feel terrible about this week’s picks, which is the opposite of my wild card failure. I’m not sure anyone can feel great about the outcome of Ravens-Bills other than the fact it will probably be awesome, potentially in a gross way. The NFC’s road dogs have stud quarterbacks who can swing a game in their favor. Even the Houston Texans have the secondary strength to end the Chiefs’ hopes of a three-peat.
Let’s try and make some money this week. All Scumbag analysis and picks are in blockquotes below. My non-Scumbag picks follow.
Houston once again proved the pundits and hack betting analysts like myself wrong the second season in a row. Scumbag 1.0 was all over Christian and myself (rightfully so) for not seeing through the Chargers in a very one-sided victory for the Texans.
Other than that, my week went alright, going 2-1 with a vanilla zero units gained due to my doubling up on my Chargers wager. This week, I’m backing favorites with one big exception. Hopefully, the strategy pays off for me once the weekend commences. Let’s take a look at the matchups.
