The New Year just started which is the perfect moment for our Brits in College Women December recap and have a look at how the Brits ended the year.
NCAA Division 1
Fatmata Janneh is in the midst of an incredible season. She recorded three huge double-doubles in December, including a 25-point, 21-rebound performance leading her side to their first win of the season. The Peacocks struggled to get their season going despite Janneh’s amazing contributions.
The team holds 3-9 record, having won three of their five games in December. The Sophomore ended the month averaging 19.9 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Loren Christie had a good start in December with two consecutive double figures games, including a season-high 21-point performance. Her defensive presence was felt by the opponents, registering 13 blocks throughout the month and leads her team in blocks per game (2.2). Unfortunately, her side had a challenging month, losing six of their seven games. She ended December averaging 10.7 points per game.
Meanwhile, Olivia Forster had her best performance of the season in 23 minutes off the bench, scoring 10 points and tallying four steals. Her team has struggled on the court with only two wins all season, while Forster had more minutes on the court this month.
Issy Bunyan recorded her best game this season, scoring nine points off the bench in a blowout victory over South Dakota. While she doesn’t get consistent minutes on the court, the Bobcats are holding an impressive record this season (12-2).
Susie Rafiu netted nine points for her best performance of the month. After 14 games, the Lions hold a 10-4 record and only lost twice in December against Duke and Richmond (3-2).
Moreover, Molly Lavin scored a season-high nine points off the bench, a performance that she matched a few days later in a win, their second of the month.
Florrie Cotterill netted a season best eight points off the bench in a loss against Fla. Atlantic. This is definitely a tough season for her and her team as she struggled for consistent minutes for her side that went winless in December.
Emma Imevbore scored eight points in eight minutes off the bench against Memphis, shooting 4/4 from the field. A few days before, she posted five points, eight rebounds and two steals in 12 minutes from the bench. The Trojans held a 3-3 record on the month.
NCAA Division 2
Ella Doherty is having a fantastic season, the senior never scored under 10 points so far this season. She had a stellar month of December recording two huge double-doubles, including her best performance of the season with 37 points and 14 rebounds.
She ended the month averaging 18.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Nonetheless, despite her amazing form, her side is 0-6 in their conference and 3-9 overall. They registered two of those wins throughout December (2-3).
Kaylie Edge netted a season best 14-point off the bench in a blowout victory over Cal St. East Bay. Her side remained unbeaten in December, and have a 11-1 record overall on the season.
Meanwhile, Simona Henshaw scored 12 points for her best game of the month in a win against Kentucky State. She is playing an important part in the success of her team ranking top five in scoring and rebounding as her side hold an overall record of 8-3.
Megan Jones tied her season-high in rebounds with 11 while recording her season best in scoring with nine points against Daemen. Furthermore, she lead her team in rebounds averaging 7.5 boards per game. Her team is 7-3 on the season.
JUCO
Millie Pearson struggled offensively this season but scored 22 points, going 10/13 from the field in her best performance of the season. Yazmin Edwards posted a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double performance in her first start of the season. Eastern Arizona have a 13-3 record in a great season so far.
Clem Odom dropped a season-high 17-point off the bench in a huge victory over Arlington Baptist. She went 8/10 on the night as her team won their third victory of the month.
DeJanae Cassanova ended December with two consecutive double figures games, including a 15-point outing against Southern Crescent Technical College. She is having a solid season so far, averaging 10 points per game, shooting 60% from the field.
Moreover, Tyra Phelan netted 12 points, her season best in a loss against Angelina College. Unfortunately, her side went winless in December across four games.
Josephine Vourliotis dropped her season-high against Northeastern Junior College, scoring 16 points while, her teammate Rhia Saggar matched her season-high 12-points in a large win over Wyoming All Stars. Their team has a record of 4-1 during December.
