ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Happy Friday! Meteorologist Matt Mackie says it'll inch slightly above 30 degrees in the afternoon with some breaks of sunshine and quiet conditions.
Two of the three Schenectady teens were found safe, but one of them is still missing. Also, a water main break in Rotterdam caused part of Curry Road to close. These stories, and more, are in your five things to know this Friday.
1. Two Schenectady teens found safe, one still missing
The Schenectady Police Department announced on Wednesday that three teen girls were reported missing. Two of the minors, Farrah Shultis, 14, and Chloe Burns, 15, were found safe on Thursday, while the third girl, Zoey Grems, 16, has still not been found.
2. Water main break in Rotterdam closes Curry Road
A water main break began in Rotterdam on Thursday morning around 11 a.m. 511NY said Curry Road between Stuart Street and Altamont Avenue is closed in both directions.
3. Healing Springs offers new support group for teens facing substance abuse in Saratoga
Teens in Saratoga Springs struggling with any type of addiction have a new support group to turn to for help. Healing Springs, a community recovery support center located at 125 High Rock Ave., is starting the first group of its kind in the county.
4. Scotia-Glenville School District safety forum
With school safety a paramount thought on many parents’ minds amidst today’s school climate, one local school district is taking the time to meet with the public to explain how it all works when trying to keep kids safe. And it’s all in what the school district is calling a preemptive and transparent fashion.
5. Samascott Orchards cleaning up after barn fire
Apples, cider, eggs, and baked goods produced by Samascott Orchards are back on the shelves at its Garden Market. The restock comes after explosions caused by a fire destroyed the orchard’s main barn last week.
