Mild and pleasant day Friday before arctic air moves in for the weekend
What We’re Tracking
- Another day of melting today
- Blast of cold by the weekend
- Dry week ahead
Temperatures haven't cooled down much through the night as we start off in the upper 30s across the area. Average high for this time of year is around 38°. Our Friday will bring plenty of sunshine and will be the last chance for moderate melting across the area with temperatures once again in the middle to upper 40s later this afternoon.
Cloud cover will start to build in by the evening as our next cold front approaches the area, bringing in another blast of cold air heading into the weekend. Right now, it looks like much of the area will stay dry as the front passes.
Highs will struggle into the low to mid 20s Saturday afternoon and may not even make it out of the 10s by Sunday. There is a slight chance a few flurries move through early Sunday morning, although won't amount to much.
Arctic cold air will settle in for Monday and Tuesday, bringing highs in the teens and overnight lows dropping below zero. This will be some of the coldest air of the season. Minimum wind chills during the first half of the week are expected to range from -15° to -10°.
After Tuesday, a slow warm up is in store with highs topping out into the middle 30s by the end of next week.
