Morning Live star announces ‘engagement’ – but all is not what it seems
MORNING Live star Gethin Jones has sent fans into a frenzy with his latest Instagram post after teasing an ‘engagement’.
The popular BBC presenter shared a beautifully shot video on his Instagram account, where he appears to pop the question.
Gethin Jones could be seen getting down on one knee to propose in a recent video[/caption] He posted the clip on Instagram[/caption] But followers soon discovered a plot twist[/caption]In the clip, Gethin drives a woman to a secluded woodland location decorated with fairy lights and photos of their time together.
As the woman examines the Polaroids, she finds one with the words “Say yes”.
Gethin then drops to one knee under the twinkling lights and asks, “Marry me?”
She gasps, utters a delighted “yes”, and the two embrace.
However, the final moments of the video reveal it is a promotional ad for Clogau.
The brand is known for their luxurious Welsh gold jewellery.
Gethin cheekily captioned the post: “She said yes (again!)”
This seems to be a nod to the ongoing joke surrounding his partnership with Clogau and his ‘work wife’, model Nikki Chislett.
The post quickly garnered attention from his followers, and many of them couldn’t help but wish the romantic scene was real.
One fan commented: “I always knew that you were a hopeless romantic.”
Meanwhile another wrote: “I most certainly wish this was really happening to you, Gethin, and a lucky lady she would be!”
This isn’t the first time Gethin has played with the idea of matrimonial bliss.
As the face of Clogau, he frequently refers to his co-star Nikki as his ‘wife’.
The pair have previously donned wedding rings and posed as a married couple for Clogau’s photoshoots, sparking playful banter among fans.
In 2020, Gethin shared a photo of a wedding band on Instagram with the caption “It’s been a big day”, before clarifying it was part of a shoot.
Despite the theatrics, Gethin keeps his real love life under wraps.
The 45-year-old Welsh presenter is currently believed to be single and has expressed his preference for meeting people the “old-fashioned way”, steering clear of dating apps.
