The Premier League title race remains alive and kicking following a difficult start to 2025 for Arne Slot’s Liverpool.

The Reds have registered one victory in their last four matches in all competitions, and that arrived against League Two Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup third round.

More importantly, they’ve had successive draws in the Premier League against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, allowing challengers Arsenal to close to gap to just four points.

The Merseyside outfit will be desperate to return to their brilliant best, and they’ll need to given their incredibly congested fixture run that sees them play six games over the next 21 days.

But it’s not all doom and gloom.

Liverpool still boast the best away record in the division having taken 24 points from a possible 30, and have won their last four games against the Bees by an aggregate score of 10-1.

They also meet a Brentford side who previously had the best home record in the top-flight, but have failed to win any of their last four at the Gtech Community Stadium.

They did, however, put in an excellent display and impressive comeback to draw 2-2 with champions Manchester City earlier this week – finishing the match with a higher xG than their opponents (2.47).

I suspect we’ll be seeing plenty of goals at the Gtech on Saturday.

Nobody has scored more goals than Brentford at home in the Premier League this season (40), while visitors Liverpool have the highest away goals tally in the division (28).

Brentford also boast the highest xG of any side in the Premier League over the last two league matches with 7.04, while Liverpool are second with 4.81.

Liverpool do generally have a good defensive record, but they have managed only two clean sheets in their last ten away games, while you have to go back to May 2024 to find Brentford’s last shut out on home turf.
