Call 4 Action: Tenant without reliable heat for over a month
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - As winter goes on and temperatures continue to drop, a North Buffalo woman hadn't had reliable heat in her apartment in over a month.
Gianna Rio is calling for action.
At the corner of Hertel and Parkside avenues, Rio lives in a brand new apartment with state-of-the-art technology. However, her heat went out over a month ago and repairs still have not been made.
The front office gave her several space heaters, but the solution is not sustainable.
"I just woke up one morning and it was just very cold, I didn't hear my vents blowing air and I came, turned it off, reset it, turned it back on, it was still not working," said Rio. "I just ask what can be done, what are they doing about the issue?"
The property manager John Daly says the computer board that powers heat to Rio's unit went down. They contacted a contractor to get a new one.
Daly says the board arrived a few days ago, but that the cold temperatures have not allowed for the installation to be done.
However, with warmer temperatures on the way over the next two days, Daly assures us that the repairs should be made. He also says he'll give Rio a discount on her rent for running the space heater.
