Woman arrested after body found in garbage bag under bed in NYC apartment: police
QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A woman was arrested Thursday in connection with the death of a man whose body was found in a Queens apartment earlier this week, police said.
Police officers were conducting a wellness check at an apartment at 137-17 70th Ave. in Kew Gardens Hills around 5 p.m. Tuesday when the body of 55-year-old Jose Portillo was found, authorities said.
Portillo was found stuffed in garbage bags under a bed, police said. Sources said Portillo is the superintendent of the building where his body was found.
Sandra Coto Navarro, 48, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to the NYPD.
Navarro lived in the building where the body was found, according to police.
