Fort Ann man charged in fatal August car crash
FORT ANN, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Washington County Sheriff's Office has completed its investigation in connection with a fatal car crash in August. Nicholas J. Normile, 29, of Fort Ann faces multiple charges, including criminally negligent homicide.
On Aug. 7, 2024, Normile allegedly stole a vehicle from a relative and, minutes later, collided with another car on Tripoli Road in the town of Fort Ann. The driver of the other car, Merrilee Howard, 75, of Fort Ann, reportedly sustained severe injuries after the collision. Police said she was transported to Albany Medical Center where she died days later due to her injuries.
At the time of his arrest in August, Normile was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and third-degree grand larceny. Now, police have also charged him with criminally negligent homicide.
Normile is scheduled to appear in Washington County Court at a later date, according to police.
