Talks to replace Great Barrington bridge continue
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. (NEWS10) -- Plans to remove the Division Street Bridge in Great Barrington are moving forward.
Problems with the bridge began in 2019 when it was closed after inspection. A temporary bridge was installed in 2022, but it only allows for one lane of alternating traffic.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is working with the town to design a permanent structure that will have two lanes of traffic as well as a bike lane.
The $11 million project will be covered through state and federal funds. Construction is expected to start in Fall 2026.
