Suspect in Battle Ground hit-run that critically injured pedestrian arrested
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man accused of committing a hit and run in Battle Ground over the weekend that critically injured a woman has been arrested, authorities said.
Clarence "Butch" Holt II, 59, was booked into the Clark County Jail and faces charge a felony hit and run charge for allegedly hitting a 45-year-old woman with his truck on Sunday morning.
Police said the woman, who is still in critical condition, was walking on West Main Street near the former VCA Animal Hospital in Battle Ground when she was struck sometime before 8 a.m.
After the Battle Ground Police Department released stock images to the public of what they believed to be the suspected truck involved in the incident, community members shared the story on social media and helped narrow down the suspect, authorities said.
"We are grateful to the public for their help in sending in tips and sharing information about this case on social media. Without their help, and assistance we received from the Woodland Police Department, this case would not have been solved so quickly. We hope this arrest brings a sense of justice to the victim and her family," said Battle Ground Police Chief Dennis Flynn in a statement.
When police arrested Holt at his residence in Woodland, they also located the vehicle believed to be involved in the hit and run, a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 truck.
