Hojlund booted the post in anger and went ballistic at Garnacho – with replays picking up the moment of rage.
The miss looked like it might be costly when Southampton took the lead soon after.
But a late hat-trick from Amad Diallo saved Manchester United’s blushes.
Garnacho was handed his 11th start of the Premier League season at Old Trafford – despite speculation he could leave in the January window.
Napoli are in the market for a winger and have been tracking the Argentine’s situation this season.
According to The Mirror, United are in talks with Napoli but rejected a £40million offer for the Argentine.
The Serie A leaders are on the verge of losing Khvicha Kvaratskelia to PSG in a £70m transfer.

And Garnacho – believed to be ready to leave Old Trafford – is their No1 target to replace Kvaratskelia.
But it is claimed United are holding out for £60m for their homegrown star.
Garnacho came through United’s ranks and has 23 goals in 116 appearances since making his debut in 2022.
But this season he has been at loggerheads with manager Ruben Amorim – who dropped the forward for the Manchester derby in December.
However Garnacho did play the full 90 minutes against Southampton.
