Six months later, they got engaged in a romantic proposal – and planned to get married this year. And in the long-awaited documentary, Molly admits that she didn’t want to break up with her fiance – but she had to.
An emotional Molly tells her mum: “It’s all so fresh and I feel really traumatised by the last couple of months.
“And when I see him, I see all that trauma. I am angry at him and I am very hurt, I can’t help that.
“I think he hopes in the future that we will be back together as a family. Obviously I never ever wanted Bambi to come from a broken home because I did.”
Tommy and Molly’s shock split came in August last year when she posted a statement to Instagram, telling fans: “Never in a million years did I think I’d ever have to write this. After five years of being together, I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way.”
He was later accused of cheating on her with a ‘blonde stranger’ on a lads’ holiday to Macedonia – something Tommy has repeatedly denied.
Now, in a new interview with Men’s Health, the 25-year-old dad has admitted the split was due to alcohol addiction.
He said: “The turnaround point was in December I thought ‘I can’t do this anymore, I cannot do it’.
“I was like ‘something needs to change’ or else I’m going to end up in a ditch because that was the way I was going.
“I often said that to my brother most night and my mates, they all know that.”
Tommy continued: “I can’t remember how many countless nights I had in like my living room or their living room just crying for no reason, like I get that drunk I just start crying and talk about other stuff and it’s just like, you can’t go on like that.
“So at the end of the day this year what’s different is me. That whole approach to life.
“Last year was awful, you know, and I want to get rid of that. This year is about being thoughtful, it’s about being kind, it’s about being the right partner, it’s about being a good partner, it’s about being there more.”
Molly Mae: Behind It All is available to stream on Prime Video now.
