Amber Alert issued for missing 4-year-old girl in Rock Island
Authorities in Rock Island are urgently searching for a missing 4-year-old girl, Blessing, after the vehicle she was in was stolen early Thursday morning.
As of 1 p.m. Blessing had still not been located, Rock Island Police Chief Tim McCloud told the Sun-Times.
“We’re calling in every able body at this point — we’re working with the FBI, the state police and every local agency, McCloud said. “We’re doing everything that can be done.”
McCloud said though nothing has been ruled out, there was no indication Blessing was on her way to Chicago.
Around 6:07 a.m. in the 1300 block of 14½ Street, Blessing’s mother left her in a booster seat with the car running while she went inside a residence, Illinois State Police posted on X. When the mother returned, the vehicle was gone.
The car was recovered just 17 minutes later near 8th Street and 15th Avenue, but Blessing was not inside.
Blessing J. Aoci is described by the police as an African American female, about 3 feet tall and weighing 50 pounds. She has black hair with twists and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink jacket, pink boots and blue pants.
