Trump taps Voigt, Gibson and Stallone as 'special envoys' to Hollywood
President-elect Trump is leaning on some of his famous friends to influence Hollywood, tapping actors Jon Voight, Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone to serve as "special ambassadors" to the entertainment industry.
Trump in a Truth Social post called Hollywood a "great but very troubled place," and claimed it was losing business to foreign countries.
"These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!" Trump posted.
Voight has been a longtime Trump supporter and was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2019. He likened Trump's 2020 election defeat to the "greatest fight since the Civil War."
Stallone during the 2024 campaign compared Trump to the "second George Washington" and introduced Trump during a post-election gala at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Gibson has caused controversy in the past for making racist and antisemitic comments. He has supported Trump in the past and ridiculed Vice President Harris's intelligence during the 2024 campaign.
Trump had an adversarial relationship with Hollywood during his first term. Celebrities at awards shows frequently criticized Trump, and Trump often returned the favor with social media attacks mocking low ratings and the hosts of such shows.
