Iconic bar opened by Boyzone’s Shane Lynch & Real Housewives of Cheshire star shuts for good with NO explanation
AN ICONIC bar opened by Boyzone’s Shane Lynch and his Real Housewives of Cheshire star wife Sheena has closed for good.
The D13 Irish bar in Knutsford, Cheshire closed after it was repossessed by the landlord – with no explanation.
Named after Shane’s Dublin postcode D13, the pub first welcomed boozers in April 2021.
After just three years of business, it closed down for good on December 6, 2024.
Originally, Shane and his wife Sheena, who featured on the Real Housewives of Cheshire, were the public faces of D13.
While their business partner Nathan Gerhold managed it.
During the first year of opening, the couple converted the 300-year-old building into a “modern Irish” themed pub with a Guinness Garden and sun-trap terrace.
Despite it receiving a “warm welcome” from locals, Shane reportedly took a step back from the business just two years later.
The pub was also renamed The Rust Shamrock, in July 2023.
But this didn’t alter its popularity as it still hosted local musicians, along with Shane’s pop star sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch.
However, just before Christmas an ominous Notice of Forfeiture appeared outside the bar.
It read: “Notice is hereby given that on 6th December 2024 the landlord peaceable entered and repossessed this property and the Lease which was granted on 12th October 2020 has been forfeited.”
Despite no longer having a website, other pub websites, such as WhatPub! have updated The Rust Shamrock’s premises status to “closed for the long-term”.
It added: “Building repossessed by landlord”.
However, the landlords have confirmed they’ve secured a new tenant, Manchester Evening News revealed.
They intend to reopen as a bar early February.
It remains unclear as to whether it’ll continue with its Irish theme.
The bar still possesses Facebook pages under its current and former names.
The D13 page boasts 1,700 followers, whereas The Rusty Shamrock contains 231.
The D13 page also contained some gleaming reviews.
One person wrote in July 2021: “Went to d13 yesterday, amazing vibes, quality music, had a meal booked and cancelled it to stay in d13.
“Live music was fantastic, highly recommend.”
A year later a person wrote: “The staff was extremely friendly. Would definitely come back again.”
And that same year another person wrote: “Can’t explain it…you need to experience it!!!”
