Snow showers possible in NY, NJ amid cold snap
NEW YORK (PIX11) – Snow is possible on Thursday in New York and New Jersey.
There is a chance snow flurries will develop in the afternoon mainly north and west of the city. Less than an inch of accumulation is expected for most of the region, but eastern Long Island could see up to an inch of snow.
Temperatures will be below average with a high of 32 in the city and low to mid-30s in the suburbs.
Friday is expected to be slightly warmer, with temperatures almost reaching 40 degrees. Wind chills, however, could be between 20 and 30 degrees.
Rain and snow showers are also possible on Saturday, with temperatures rising to the mid-40s.
Sunday will be partly sunny with a chance of scattered snow showers as colder air will begin to move in from the north. Temperatures will be in the mid-30s for much of the area.
Monday will be mostly sunny and bitterly cold as arctic air will overspread the region. The afternoon high will be 25 in the city and low to mid-20s in the suburbs.
Tuesday will be sunny and frigid with a high of 19 in the city and upper teens to low-20s in the suburbs.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny and extremely cold as arctic air will be planted over the region. The high will be 18 in the city and mid to upper teens in the suburbs.
