Good Morning. It's Thursday 16th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...
Leeds could rekindle interest in playmaker after new Villa arrival
Aston Villa's £20m capture of Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund earlier this week could have a ripple effect, potentially benefiting Leeds United in an unexpected way. Whilst the Dutch International is set to bolster Unai Emery's attacking options, it casts a harsher light on Emi Buendi, who with just 71 minutes of game time this season has fallen way down the pecking order at the Midlands based club. With less than 18 months remaining on his contract, Emery is likely eager to offload him. Leeds are long time admirers of the 28 year old Argentine, and could finally fill the creative void left by Georginio Rutter last Summer.
Guilavogui linked with Paris move
Josuha Guilavogui's brief stint at Leeds United could be coming to an end just three months after his arrival. Media outlet Jeunes Footeux suggest that Paris FC, a second-tier French side that shares a RedBull investment connection with the Whites, are interested in acquiring Guilavogui. They currently sit joint-top of Ligue 2, and are desperate to add depth and experience to their squad during the Winter transfer window.
With Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev returning from injury, a move to Paris FC could be the sensible option for Guilavogui, but where does this leave Leeds? Joffy has joined Hull, and with Crew off to Doncaster, it begs the question whether Leeds are making room for late January arrivals?
