Troy car chase ends in Menands, drug suspect arrested
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Troy Police Department detectives arrested a suspect in an ongoing drugs and weapons investigation after a car chase into Menands. Although the suspect has not been identified, police said no shots were fired by the police or the suspect during the chase.
Police said they spotted the suspect driving on Wednesday around 12:30 p.m. on 1st Street in South Troy. When police tried to stop the vehicle, it fled and became disabled after a tire deflation device popped two tires.
Law enforcement followed at a distance after the vehicle drove over the deflation device. The suspect abandoned the car near Exit 6 on I-787 South and ran into a business in Menands before being taken into custody.
After being evaluated, Troy Police processed the suspect at their station. Police said the suspect was evaluated at a local hospital as detectives thought he had narcotics in his system.
Police are continuing their investigation at a home on 3rd Street that the suspect is allegedly connected to. Stay with NEWS10 as more information becomes available.
