AMID the ongoing cash crisis on the cobbles, a Coronation Street star has confirmed his shock exit.
Fans are devastated amid the ongoing cast exodus after a star on the soap confirmed that he has left, with his final scenes already having been aired.

This comes after five stars — Charlotte Jordan, Sue Cleaver, Sue Devaney, Colson Smith, and Luca Toolan — have announced they are leaving or being written out since November 2024.
The actor, who plays Matty Radcliffe on the ITV soap, left fans devastated when he shared a post on Instagram saying his character had “gone out with a bang”.
Matty was involved in a heartbreaking knife crime storyline that saw his brother Mason (Luca Toolan) get knifed to death by the pair’s older brother Logan (Harry Lowbridge).
Confirming his exit, Seamus posted a picture of him posing alongside some fellow Coronation Street stars.
In the snap, Seamus could be seen posing beside Jack Carroll and Marc Bayliss, as well as Rebecca Atkinson, who recently signed up to the soap for a guest role as a prison guard.
The snap was a behind-the-scenes snap from Seamus’ final scene on the soap.
In the final scene – which fans didn’t know was his last – Matty was in a prison visiting room waiting to see his girlfriend.
When his girlfriend didn’t show up, Matty became angry and didn’t like the way Bobby Donovan (played by the aforementioned Jack) looked at him.
HARROWING KNIFE CRIME STORYLINE
Matty then grabbed a knife and threatened to hurt Bobby, with his dad Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) quick to step in to try and talk Matty down from harming his son.
After the tense moment happened, Matty was seen being sent to solitary confinement after holding a prison guard hostage.
Sharing that his final scene had aired, actor Seamus captioned the snap: “Out with a bang!”
Reacting to the snap and news of his final scenes having already aired, one person commented: “You ain’t done already are you!?!”
Another asked: “Don’t tell me that is your last scene?”
Corrie cash crisis: shock exits for 2025
ITV bosses are locked in a battle to save the cash-strapped soap.
This means that a number of stars have either been axed from or have abandoned the long-running serial drama.
Colson Smith – Craig Tinker
The character of Craig Tinker has been axed by bosses after 14 years. After he was told of the news in Autumn 2024, Colson Smith confirmed that would be written out of the show with scenes to air later this year. Craig’s on-screen mum, Beth Tinker, also left the show in the summer when actress Lisa George was written out from the role.
Sue Cleaver – Eileen Grimshaw
After 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw, former I’m A Celebrity campmate Sue Cleaver will quit the show. The Sun on Sunday reported in January that she’s already begun to film her exit scenes. However the character will not be killed off in case Sue opts to make a return in the future.
Luca Toolan – Mason Radcliffe
Bosses decided to axe the teenage character after just 16 months after he first joined the show. Recent scenes saw Mason stabbed by his criminal brothers after his pal Dylan brought a knife in an attempt to defend him.
Sue Devaney – Debbie Webster
In November 2024, we revealed that Debbie Webster is set to be killed off after 40 years on the cobbles. The character will die as part of a heartbreaking long-running dementia storyline.
Charlotte Jordan – Daisy Midgeley
The actress became the fifth star to leave Coronation Street in just one month. We revealed that she will bow out of the ITV soap later this year after four years on-screen. Charlotte told sources that she’s hungry to see what other opportunities await.
Shelley King – Yasmeen Metcalfe
The actress has played Yasmeen Metcalfe on the cobbles for the past 11 years and we revealed in January that she finished filming her final scenes. This follows the departure of her on-screen partner Stu Carpenter.
While a third said in disbelief: “Omg are you leaving?”
“Fantastic episode you did us proud love you,” said a fourth.
While a fifth gushed: “Brilliant work Seamus.”
CORRIE CASH CRISIS
This comes after Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny Bradley on the ITV soap Coronation Street, said that ITV is struggling financially.
Amid this, some soap fans reckon that if it comes down to it, ITV would axe Emmerdale in a bid to save the Manchester-based soap opera.
“If it came down to it, ITV would sacrifice Emmerdale to save Corrie,” one fan penned in a soap forum.
“Emmerdale would go first as the sacrificial lamb,” said another.
