Possible school schedule changes in Saratoga Springs will not take effect next school year
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Saratoga Springs City School District will not be making any changes to school schedules for the 2025-26 school year. The district is considering adjusting school schedules to ease the strain on bus drivers.
Leaders said the district has about 20 fewer drivers than before the COVID pandemic. The district said the transportation system cannot keep up with the volume needed for daily routes and extracurricular activities.
The proposed changes would push the start of the high school earlier by 30 minutes and delay the start of four of the six elementary schools. Parents said changes in start times would raise childcare costs. Others raised concerns about how schedule changes would impact student performance.
The district said they will continue to gather input from the community, and they're hoping to hire more bus drivers.
