Democrats Ran on Abortion Up to Birth and Lost, Yet They Still Support Unlimited Abortions
Yesterday, I concluded a column about Democrats—“The Party of Death”—with a question about whether I thought they’d unload their obsession with abortion which I wrote was like an albatross, a heavy anchor weighing the party down. My answer was, unfortunately, no.
I wrote that before I ran across Sarah Arnold’s fine piece, headlined “Democrats Plan to Scrap Abortion Messaging After 2024 Failure”. She was riffing off a story at Axios written by Andrew Solender.
Solender begins his story about Democrats waking up to their failure to address the economic anxiety so many Americans feel. “A non-profit closely aligned with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) is preparing its first major investment in the 2026 election with a campaign aimed at dinging Republicans on the economy.”

Put another way—a more honest way— Democrats are going to try to blame Republicans for not righting the economy in two minutes.
But what’s that mean for pro-lifers? Solender writes
Between the lines: The plan represents something of a shift in strategy for Democrats after an abortion-centered message of “freedom” failed to carry them to victory last year.
“Somewhat of a shift in strategy”? Are you kidding me? Abortion—the holy grail for Democrats—was supposed to overwhelm every other issue, in the process carrying the “women’s vote” by a historic margin.
In fact, more women voted for Trump in 2024—45%—than did in 2020—41%. Among white women, Trump won 53%.
Vice President Harris bet the farm on abortion and lost. But it was not for lack of trying by the Abortion Industry.
“Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris has positioned herself as the reproductive rights candidate, vowing to restore reproductive freedoms and garnering endorsements from organizations like the Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF), the Committee to Protect Health Care, and Reproductive Freedom for All,” TIME magazine’s Chantelle Lee wrote the day before the election. “She has promised to support a bill restoring Roe’s protections or veto any national abortion ban”.
Compared to Joe Biden’s vote in 2020, Harris margin was 5 points smaller among younger women, 18-24.
A final thought. Navigator Research, “a project within the Hub Project, which is a Democratic nonprofit group, conducting three focus groups,” wrote Politico’s Elena Schneider. They offer “a pretty scathing rebuke” of the Democratic Party brand, said Rachael Russell, director of polling and analytics.”
That is putting the best possible face on what three focus groups—including “even voters who previously backed Democrats” — told Navigator Research, which Schneider gently described as a “progressive group.” She wrote
When asked to compare the Democratic Party to an animal, one participant compared the party to an ostrich because “they’ve got their heads in the sand and are absolutely committed to their own ideas, even when they’re failing.” Another likened them to koalas, who “are complacent and lazy about getting policy wins that we really need.” Democrats, another said, are “not a friend of the working class anymore.”
It gets worse from there:
“I think what the Democratic elites and their politicians believe is often very different from what the average Democratic voter is,” said a Georgia man who voted for Biden in 2020 but Trump in 2024. “The elites that run the Democratic Party — I think they’re way too obsessed with appealing to these very far-left social progressivism that’s very popular on college campuses.”
What did they think of pro-abortion Vice President Kamala Harris the party’s presidential nominee? She was described as “inauthentic,” “very dishonest” and “did not seem competent.”
“Inauthentic,” “very dishonest” and “did not seem competent” and pro-abortion to the bone.
