Taylor Swift’s Renovation Plans for Her Rhode Island Estate Hint at Her Future With Travis Kelce
Now that Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has come to an end, the 35-year-old pop star is thinking about the future. Of course, Travis Kelce comes to mind, but it’s what she’s doing with her Westerly, Rhode Island estate that signifies a time for nesting.
It looks like Swift is ready to expand her already large residence in the Watch Hill neighborhood in New England. According to The Providence Journal, the “Cruel Summer” singer had permits issued for construction on her home to include a bedroom, several bathrooms, and a kitchen update. The renovations have reportedly begun, per the media outlet, as a “crane and wood framing” have already been spotted on the property. The cost for the construction is somewhere near “$1.7 million.”
As every Swiftie knows, the Watch Hill residence has been home to some pretty epic Fourth of July parties over the years aka “Taymerica.” Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, and Cara Delevingne are just some of the A-list names who have been spotted there in the past. The first year for the event was in 2013, just months after she purchased the $17 million mansion and hosted her Red Tour dancers.
“Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays of the year,” Swift explained in a July 2013 blog post about her “Holiday House,” via Us Weekly. “You’ve seen us all in our show costumes on the Red Tour … here’s what we all look like in RED, white, and blue.” The last time fans saw the festive event was 2016 and she went dark from 2017 until 2023 while she was dating Joe Alwyn, an actor who preferred his privacy.
Now that she’s dating the very outgoing Kelce, the addition on her property may signal their future plans — from hosting his side of the family to starting their own life together. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has been pretty open lately about the topic of marriage. “I actually don’t know people who’ve gotten married in the fall, because all the weddings I’ve been to and all my friends always do it in the summer,” he said on the Jan. 8 episode of his New Heights podcast about the best time of year to have a wedding.
“I’ve seen weddings in f—ing February. I’ve seen weddings everywhere but the fall,” the athlete noted about the one season football players do not get married. Perhaps that means he and Swift are thinking about the best time in their future to have a wedding. It doesn’t sound like she will be a fall bride as long as he’s playing football.
And yes, Swift’s hosting tradition continued in August 2024 as she and Kelce welcomed his teammate Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany and their daughter Sterling, 4, along with Lively and Reynolds, and Bradley Cooper with his daughter, Lea, 8, enjoyed a pool party at the home. Now, that’s an A-list invite! The “Holiday House” has shifted from a party house to a family weekend house, and that is exactly how Swift and Kelce want it.
