Round Top resort continues scheduling after tavern fire
ROUND TOP, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- On Thursday, January 9, a fire started in the tavern of the Glen Falls House, 230 Winter Clove Road. The boutique hotel, restaurant and event center, however, is not letting the chimney fire hold them back from continuing to hold events and welcome guests.
Around 2:07 p.m. on Thursday, Greene County 911 reported a working fire at the Glen Falls House in the tavern. The Round Top Volunteer Fire Company, Cairo Hose Company, Kiskatom Fire Department, Durham Ambulance, and Greene County Paramedics responded to the scene.
The Glen Falls House is nestled on the backroads of Round Top, in between both Hunter and Windham mountains. Although most commonly utilized during the summer, the Glen Falls House is open year-round with a variety of room options, a restaurant and the tavern.
On Friday, the resort shared their appreciation and an update to Facebook. According to the resort, the team and guests were evacuated safely, and scheduled events for the tavern will continue in a new location on the property.
"Thankfully, our whole team and all of our guests are safe and sound. Thank you to everyone for reaching out with your support and well wishes. We’ve been overwhelmed with your love and concern for the place and people we all hold so dear to our hearts," the resort shared on Facebook.
"Yesterday (Thursday) was a long one, but we’re getting cleaned up today (Friday), assessing the damage and working on plans for repair and reopening," the post continued. "In the meantime, we’ll be moving and modifying our scheduled events to take place in the Main House and Trotwood Restaurant this Winter and we hope you’ll join us there to keep our spirits running high."
On January 17 and 18, the resort's restaurant will be open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Also on January 18, the resort is hosting a music party in the Main House, originally planned for the tavern.
