GOP senator shamed for decrying standards in Dept. of Defense while misspelling 'military'
Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) shamed Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) for using a poster that misspelled the word "military" to demand high standards in the Department of Defense.
During a Tuesday confirmation hearing for defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth, Schmitt complained about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs in the military.
"This stuff is insane," Schmitt said after claiming that "5,800 white officers" would be fired if the Air Force had quotas. "And people wonder why recruiting is dropped off."
"They've lowered their standards to meet numbers they still can't get to," he added.

As Schmitt spoke, he displayed a poster titled "DEI in our Miltary," which misspelled the word military.
Following the hearing, Kaine mocked Schmitt on the Blue Sky social media platform.
"GOP members complaining about reduction of military standards while using a chart that misspells the word military!" Kaine wrote.
