Antonio Conte wants to sign his ‘protege’ from Tottenham in January
According to reports in Italy, Antonio Conte is plotting a move to bring one of his favourite Tottenham players to Napoli before the end of this transfer window.
Tottenham will not sanction many exits this month
While a lot of Tottenham’s focus last summer was on trimming their extremely bloated squad, it is clear that the aim of this window is to bolster its depth.
That is why we have heard a lot of speculation about players potentially moving to Spurs while we have hardly heard anything concrete about any potential exits from Hotspur Way.
However, news has now emerged from Italy suggesting that Napoli could look to raid N17 for one of Spurs’ best players.
Antonio Conte wants to reunite with his signing
This claim has been made in the print edition of Corriere del Mezzogiorno (as relayed by Sport Witness), which points out that the Serie A league leaders look set to lose Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this month, with Paris Saint-Germain pushing forward with a move for the winger.
The report claims that Conte wants to replace the Georgia international with Dejan Kulusevski, who he brought to Spurs from Juventus back in 2021.
The outlet described the Swede as Conte’s ‘protege’ and suggests that the Serie A side could look to negotiate a loan offer with an option to buy in the summer.
What Dejan Kulusevski is thinking about his Spurs future
This report comes a couple of weeks after some sources from Italy claimed that Kulusevski is not happy with the way Tottenham’s season is going and is looking for an exit route from the club.
However, Spurs remain well protected as the 24-year-old’s current deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium runs until 2028.
One would expect Daniel Levy to laugh off any offer from Napoli for the attacker and one doubts the Serie A club would be able to afford Tottenham’s asking price even if the former Juve man asks to leave.
