Sandy Liang’s Next Salomon Sneakers Are Pink, Silver and Can’t-Miss
Sandy Liang and Salomon are returning with their third collaboration and another soft approach to the outdoors.
The Sandy Liang x Salomon XT-Whisper brings a tinge of twee to the recently revived women’s trail runner shoe. As a bonafide trail runner, it’s more akin to the XT-6 Expanse from their debut collab, rather than the Mary Jane and ballet flat-inspired models from their second.
Just like the other XT sneaker, a light pink forms the mesh base for the XT-Whisper. Reflective silver detailing has been dialed up for the overlays, and an additional pop comes through the red outsole beneath a white midsole. Sandy Liang’s name runs down the tongue ribbon, while a flower decorates the tongue tag. The two marks then appear again together on the right insole.
“The XT-Whisper is one of my favorite silhouettes from Salomon’s archives, and I loved the challenge of
reimagining it through a fresh, modern lens,” Sandy Liang said in a press release. “This collaborative design reflects my love for outdoor adventures paired with the practicality and ease of my everyday city life.”
Salomon just brought back the XT-Whisper in December, and the trail running sneaker made its debut in 2000 as a women’s-tailored version of the XT-Hawk. Although now intended more for lifestyle and unise, the model still packs outdoor cred with a Quicklace system and treaded outsole. Sensifit overlays secure the foot with little weight added and a dynamic series of waves.
The Sandy Liang x Salomon XT-Whisper will first release Thursday, January 16, through Sandy Liang’s website before a wider launch January 23 via Salomon’s website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $150.
