ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Happy Tuesday! Meteorologist Matt Mackie says this Tuesday will be cool and blustery with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 20s. The wind may make it feel like the temperatures are in the teens at times.
As President Trump's return to the Oval Office approaches, Emerson College released a poll on Tuesday morning surveying the public on a swath of issues. Also, Governor Hochul proposed a $400 million investment into the city of Albany. These stories, and more, are in your five things to know this Tuesday.
1. Poll: Do Americans want more states? Are we on the right track now?
On the eve of President Trump’s return to the Oval Office, Emerson College Polling conducted a survey to gauge public sentiment on a swath of issues including the popularity of Presidents Joe Biden and Jimmy Carter, the criminal proceedings against former President Trump, and the potential expansion of United States territories.
2. Hochul proposes $400M investment into the city of Albany
The city of Albany is being highlighted in Gov. Kathy Hochul’s 2025 State of the State Address. The governor has proposed that $400 million of the executive budget be directed toward the capital city.
3. Albany PD: Crime mostly down, Community still concerned
New police chief Brendan Cox and Mayor Kathy Sheehan painted a picture of progress when it came to crime in Albany. Both Cox and Sheehan however, were particularly emphatic in their stance on gun control, saying something needs to be done.
4. Vote may dissolve Tannersville Village government
Talks to dissolve Tannersville have been ongoing for a year according to Mayor David Schneider. First came a petition to do so but the Village Board decided to lead the process themselves, with the help of a consultant, to figure it all out.
5. Family member of man who died on Great Sacandaga Lake recalls how it happened
State police confirmed the man who died after falling through the ice Sunday on the Great Sacandaga Lake was William Gifford. One of his family members recalled what happened Sunday morning when a group of them gathered to go ice fishing before things took a tragic turn.
