Max George shows off brutal scar from emergency heart operation after ‘writing his will in hospital bed’
MAX George has shown off his brutal scar after having an emergency heart operation.
The 36-year-old was rushed into A&E last month and underwent life-saving pacemaker surgery in Manchester.
Max was luckily able to return home from hospital in time for Christmas last month.
And last night he took to Instagram to share a snap revealing the scar from the operation.
But despite being on the road to recovery The Wanted singer Max recently confessed that at one point he was convinced he wouldn’t make it.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, he confessed to writing up a will on his phone during his first night in hospital.
He said: “That first night I wrote a will, I thought I was going to die.
“If I could go from being absolutely on top of the world to being told ‘the bottom part of your heart isn’t working’, I kept thinking in my head, ‘Well, what if the top half stops working overnight?’
“When you get told that you really realise what your responsibilities are. I’ve got a partner, Maisie [Smith], I’ve got a family.
“I’ve got two little nephews and all of that stuff really comes to the front of it all. I was on the heart ward with about six elderly people, I was at least 30 years younger than them.”
Following his life-saving operation, Max took to Instagram to thank the medical staff who took care of him.
Sharing a snap of his scar shortly after the surgery, Max said: “Given the last 10 days, this is the best Christmas present I could have ever wished for.
“Pacemaker is in. Operation took around 2 and half hours. The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go… But the hospital surgeons, doctors and nurses at the NHS have been incredible. I owe everything to them.
“The surgeon kindly put my pacemaker just underneath a very special tattoo of mine.. So I’m sure it’s being looked after.”
