Siena basketball visits local schools
LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Student athletes and coaches from the men's and women's basketball teams at Siena College visited local schools to give the kids a chance to see what it's like to be a Division I college athlete.
The players stopped by the Blue Creek Elementary and Oneida Middle Schools on Monday as part of the Adopt-A-School program. Players met with students and organized drills and games that were similar to what the players do during the season.
"I'm from a family with a lot of kids, so I love interacting with kids," guard Luke Cecchi said. "They love it. It makes them feel heard. Helps them interact with us a little bit and get excited for the season."
"How inspirational is it to have college athletes come talk to you and have an intimate moment," guard Anajah Brown said. "And you can hear their process. I just think it's really good, especially since they were at our game, and they saw us play. And now they can get to know us a little more personally."
The goal is to teach the students the importance of hard work and dedication.
