I have perfect skin & get mad when people say you need to be rich to look pretty – I swear by a £1 buy for anti-ageing

A SKINCARE influencer has revealed you don’t need to splurge on pricey products to achieve perfect skin.

Amy, known as ‘Amyflamy1’ on TikTok, shared her budget-friendly skincare tip, showing how a simple £1 product is all you need to keep your skin looking youthful and fresh.

Amy has shared a step-by-step guide on how she looks after her skin

In her video, Amy takes viewers through a step-by-step guide on her affordable routine, proving that great skin doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag.

Speaking to camera, she says: “You know what makes me so mad is when people tell me, oh you need to be rich in order to do skincare, to look pretty and to do basic hygiene care.

“No. Like, I maintained perfect skin when I was like 17, 18 and I had like $30 (£24.70) to my name. Stop making excuses.”

She showed her 4.2million followers exactly how she does it.

First up, she gets a bowl of hot water – but not boiling – and gets a towel to put over her head before placing her face over the bowl allowing for the steam to soak into her face.

Amy recommends doing this for around three minutes as this will be enough to “open your pores” before cleansing them.

When it comes to using a cleansing oil, Amy says you can use any type.

She then gets some sugar – preferably brown – and adds it into her palm which has some of the cleaning oil as well and “you’re going to create a soft scrub.”

But Amy urges those to not use “too much sugar, just a little bit to scrub off and exfoliate all the dead skin cells and blackheads.”

She adds: “Do not use sugar scrub often, only like once in three weeks or once in two weeks.”

Next up, she suggests getting a warm, wet towel and gently removing the cleansing scrub off your face.

Amy says: “Now you will feel that your skin is so smooth right now.”

The next step isn’t compulsory, but Amy likes to do it.

She says: “We’re gonna take an alcohol swab and get a pimple popper.

Everybody deserves to be pretty. We do not make any excuses around here

“After we do the disinfectant, we are going to take the pimple popper and gently press on your nose to get a little bit of that blackhead out. Pretty disgusting.”

Next up, she gets a Cetaphil cleaning foam, and washes her face with it.

She says: “I cannot tell you how smooth and fresh my skin feels.”

Amy then takes a cotton swab and uses it to cleanse around the nose area before then getting an ice cube, slowly melting it slightly in your hand before applying it to your face to close the pores.

Biggest skincare trends for 2025

Face The Future’s Head of Clinic, Kimberley Medd, shared the five skincare trends predicted to take off in 2025.

1. Exosomes

Exosomes are the buzzword for 2025, taking advanced skin regeneration to new heights. These micro-messengers signal skin cells to repair damage, boost collagen, and accelerate recovery. Whether in topical formulations or clinic-based treatments, they’re a gamechanger for targeting ageing and compromised skin barriers.

2. Streamlined Skincare

The age of 12-step routines is fading as consumers shift to more intentional, multi-functional products. Streamlining skincare not only saves time but also reduces the risk of overloading your skin. In 2025, we’ll see a rise in hybrid products like CeraVe AM Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF50  which combine active ingredients like ceramides with a broad-spectrum SPF50 for simplified, effective results.

3. Vegan Collagen

Plant-based collagen will dominate the skincare world in 2025, providing a sustainable, ethical alternative to traditional animal-derived collagen. Expect vegan collagen in everything from moisturisers to serums, designed to enhance elasticity and hydration whist catering to a more eco-conscious audience.

4. The Rise Of AI

AI is revolutionising the beauty landscape, making it possible for consumers to get truly personalised skincare solutions. In 2025, we predict a dramatic shift towards AI-powered tools that help people understand their skin on a deeper level.

5. Hair Loss Solutions –

Hair loss is an issue that affects more men than we often realise, and it’s no longer just something we’re talking about behind closed doors. In 2025, expect to see a continued rise in demand for treatments that not only tackle hair loss but also nurture overall scalp health.

She then uses a serum – that doesn’t have to be expensive – before then getting her tub of Vaseline, which currently costs £1 from Poundland.

Amy applies a very thin layer to her face.

She says: “For my oily girls, for my girls who have very sensitive skin or very dry skin, a little bit thick layer is okay.

And then you’re going to apply the rest of that Vaseline on your lips like so.

“After you make sure all that Vaseline is soaked in, you’re going to go to sleep. That’s it.”

She finishes the video by showing off her glowing skin, and says: “And look at my skin, amazing. And drink lots and lots of water.

“Everybody deserves to be pretty. We do not make any excuses around here.”

Why shouldn't children use adult skincare?

Milly Ahlquist, researcher at Lush, said: “Children’s skin is not being mucked around by hormones or showing the effects of late nights, city pollution or too much time spent in the sun.

That being said, many young people are invested in looking after their skin. They might be interested in a routine they see older family members using, or what their peers are experimenting with.

Thanks to social media, they are also able to see marketing content selling adult products more easily than ever before.

Unfortunately, the cosmetics industry today is filled with strong actives and acids that were once only available from a professional. Children have a less mature skin barrier than adults and a lower body mass, which makes them more susceptible to irritation and allergy if they use strong products being marketed to adults. This could have a lasting impact on their complexion – and even their lifestyle, if they develop an allergy.

What skincare could children use?

Some skincare good practice is recommended. Gently cleaning your skin to remove sunscreen and any dirt or skin squames is also a good idea. Safe, gentle oils like almond and coconut are often up to this task so you don’t need to splurge on a cleanser aimed at adults.

If the skin needs a little hydration, try a moisturiser.

What skincare could teenagers use?

During our adolescent years, we undergo extensive physical, emotional and hormonal changes that take us from childhood to adulthood and getting to grips with all these goings-on can take some time.

Unfortunately, our skin does not get left out of the fun! Of course, puberty will be a different experience for each person, but there are some general changes we expect to occur at this stage of life.

One of the first things you may notice is pinhead-like dots on your t-zone for the first time. These openings contain the hair follicle and sebaceous gland (though some people call them ‘pores’). Your sebaceous glands produce a protective waxy substance called sebum, which

Spot-prone skin needs a very delicate touch. However tempting it is to squeeze or subdue a particularly bold breakout with strong products, this increases your risk of damaging the skin and can lead to scarring. And, as anyone with a scar will know, preventing scarring is generally easier than treating it.

Use a gentle cleanser or exfoliant, and apply a clay-based face mask a few times a week to give the skin a deeper cleanse and absorb trapped dirt.”
