Daredevils will be seated back-to-back before being flipped around and held face down over a “pool of toxic alien acid”.
The new ride will put riders through heart-pounding centrifugal forces from the spin patterns.
Reportedly, the Toxicator will be the only topspin ride in the world to be elevated above ground level.
This means other park-goers will be able to watch the ride from underneath.
When it opens, the Toxicator will stand at 78ft (23m), making it the highest ride of its kind at Alton Towers.
The new ride will be located in the Forbidden Valley, next to the newly-reopened Nemesis Reborn, and it will be able to accommodate 500 riders per hour.
While it is not yet known when the new ride will open to the public, the announcement was met with excitement by theme park fans.
Taking to Facebook, one theme park fan wrote: “Can’t wait to ride once it is ready, there are still a few details that haven’t yet been mentioned, which could include water jets and other theming”.
Another park-goer added: “Oh, love it, can’t wait for it”..
A third simply wrote, “Can’t wait!”.
Only park-goers who are taller than 1.4m will be allowed to ride Toxicator when it opens to the public.
Bianca Sammut, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort, said: “Alton Towers is renowned for consistently delivering new and reimagined thrills for our fans and as the UK’s only topspin ride, we’re excited to welcome Toxicator to the park.
“We can’t wait to challenge thrillseekers to submit to the spin. Located in the heart of Forbidden Valley, this is the latest chapter in the Nemesis story which has captivated generations of thrillseekers worldwide.
“We’re not yet ready to reveal precisely when Toxicator will turn your world upside down, but rest assured the wait will be worth it.”
Alton Towers is home to plenty of adrenaline-inducing rides, including Nemesis Reborn, The Smiler and Oblivion.
And Toxicator isn’t the only new attraction set to open at the Staffordshire-based theme park in the future.
For younger park-goers, there’s also CBeebies Land, which is set to get a new junior rollercoaster next year.
The theme park revealed the news via Instagram on December 20, 2024.
CBeebies Land first opened in 2014 and is currently home to 13 family-friendly rides.
Alton Towers has now closed for the season.
The theme park will fully reopen in March 2025, although Alton Towers will also be open for themed events during the February half term.

- Go to the back of the theme park first. Rides at the front will have the longest queues as soon as it opens.
- Go on water rides in the middle of the day in the summer – this will cool you off when the sun is at its hottest.
- Download the park’s app to track which rides have the shortest queues.
- Visit on your birthday, as some parks give out “birthday badges” that can get you freebies.
- If it rains, contact the park. Depending on how much it rained, you may get a free ticket to return.
At the end of last year, Alton Towers announced it would be closing its oldest ride permanently.
Meanwhile, here’s an exciting new look at the nearly-completed Epic Universe, which will open later this year.
