Ricky Gervais shares rare look inside £14.5m London mansion – but fans say ‘it looks like a hospital’
RICKY Gervais has given fans a rare look inside his incredible £14.5million London mansion – and pointed out a detail that shows he’s still just like the rest of us.
The award-winning comedian’s huge lobby area is awash with light with a winding white marble staircase with an ornate banister.

The all white space has a minimalist feel, with artwork and furniture used sparingly.
It prompted some followers to compare it to a hospital.
One person commented: “Love what you have done to the place has that real psychopath mentality ward vibes.”
Another said: “Must be weird living in a private hospital.”
A third described it as: “Parkour palatial meets a clockwork orange.”
While others were more complimentary, writing: “
One said: “Gorgeous home! Are you rich or something?”
Ricky also shared the warmer living space that featured his cat Pickles relaxing atop blankets on the sofa.
Over the festive period Ricky showed off his decorated tree while clutching a bottle of his Dutch Barn vodka brand.
The inviting room has solid wood floors, a sturdy matching coffee table, brooding artwork, spotlights and floor to ceiling windows.
Last month builders began constructing a new tennis court at his posh home – despite angry protests from locals.
Neighbours fear they’ll be subjected to excessive grunting and shouting from the ball players.
The comedian is completely revamping the back garden at his mansion, which is within a conservation area.
To gain approval from the council, the 63-year-old’s team had to produce a “biodiversity enhancement plan” to detail how he would protect the wildlife.
They’ll put in two bat roost boxes, one bird nest box, a sparrow nest terrace, an insect house and a hedgehog home.
They’ve already planted nine new trees, and plan to put in four more.
This is because they’re having to chop down nine trees and rip out three-quarters of the current lawn.
It will “deliver a significantly more wildlife friendly garden, changing dynamically with the seasons, providing blossom, nectar and fruit”, says one planning doc.
After Life star Ricky and wife Jane Fallon, 63, had their plans approved for a new court to be occasionally used for “one-to-one tennis coaching”.
Yet some residents were unhappy – mostly due to the noise from players and potential spectators.
One said: “It is unfair and unrealistic, noise-wise. It will not only be the ball or balls being hit or bounced before serving that will be noisy.
Ricky’s lounge looked the perfect place to unwind with a tipple this Christmas[/caption] His cat Pickles certainly feels at home in the new mansion[/caption]“If practising a machine firing balls over the net is even more noisy. The players will make noise when speaking or shouting to each other. A tennis court can be used for doubles i.e. 4 adults and / or children. From time to time there will be spectators watching, shouting and cheering.
“There is a seating arrangement alongside our boundary fence is for several spectators to be involved with the game. There is no mention of the number of seats.
“There is no fencing around the court so there is a danger of being hit by a ball which is mishit and lands in our or a neighbour’s garden.
“We will not have peaceful enjoyment of our garden and house whilst the court is in use.”
The local was also concerned that the court could be turned into a football pitch, adding: “If the net is removed the permeable surface could be used as 5 a side football pitch or for other sports.”
