Michael O'Brien's Super 25 high school basketball rankings for Jan. 12, 2025
A busy week in the Super 25. There were plenty of upsets and several instances where ranked teams lost to good teams with lousy records. Expect a lot more of that over the second half of the season.
The real problem this week wasn't the upsets or anything the ranked teams did, it was the lack of teams that deserved to join the rankings. There are a solid 15 teams outside the Super 25 that are as good as the bottom 15 teams, but other than Rolling Meadows none of them stepped up with solid weeks to grab a spot.
The top six remained the same. Warren and Curie tumbled a bit after upsets. Young dropped out after losing to Lane. The Dolphins beat Fenwick, but Nate Marshall didn't play. He was at a football All-American game.
Fremd is the other team that dropped out. The Vikings lost to Barrington. Bloom rejoins along with Rolling Meadows.
