I transformed my damaged, scrawny hair into long, healthy locks using a £6 oil – people ask me to ‘drop the routine’
A WOMAN has revealed how she completely transformed her hair from damaged to thick and healthy using a £6 oil.
TikTok user Nia showed how her locks grew over the course of 12 months, and people have been begging her for a hair routine.
Nia has been oiling her hair with rosemary oil, which costs £6 from Boots[/caption]On her @niaxna account, she shared: “What a journey.
“I’m really happy how my hair looks now compared to January.”
Nia said she oiled her hair a few times a week using rosemary oil.
She also did three to four hair trims throughout the year to get rid of any split ends that were forming.
In January her hair looked bleached, short and damaged, but after a few months, the change was noticeable.
Her hair started to grow and looked shinier and healthier in the process.
By December, it was half-way down her back and looking glossy.
Her video has racked up 2.8million views, and people were amazed at the before and after clips.
One person wrote: “I can’t even get my hair to grow an inch for an entire year.”
Another added: “Incredible!!! That’s amazing growth.”
And a third commented: “what‘s your routine? i‘m thinking about using oil on my hair as well.”
Meanwhile, one person said: “looks so healthy now.”
Hair company Keratase shared how you should correctly apply oil to your hair for maximum benefits.
They wrote: “The amount of hair oil we suggest ranges from 2-4 pumps depending on the length of hair, hair texture, hair thickness and hair condition.
“Start with two pumps, you can always apply more hair oil if needed!
“Avoid applying hair oil anywhere near the roots of your hair, keep the product at the mid-lengths and ends for best results.
“The best time to apply a nourishing hair oil is after shampooing and conditioning your hair when it is clean and dry. T
“Applying the oil to towel-dried or air-dried hair allows it to penetrate the hair shaft and lock in moisture. Applying hair oil on wet or damp hair will help detangle and continue to nourish strands.”
Hair re-growth FAQs
Anabel Kingsley, Consultant Trichologist and Brand President at Philip Kingsley spoke exclusively to Fabulous.
How long does it take for hair to grow back?
Hair grows, on average, half an inch a month. You cannot speed this up.
Do rosemary oil and scalp massages work?
Oils do not promote hair growth. In terms of rosemary oil, the current trend stems from one small study carried out on 50 men in 2015. No women were involved, and the study compared the effects of 2 per cent minoxidil to Rosemary oil. 2 per cent minoxidil doesn’t do much for
male pattern hair loss anyway, so the results were not very impressive. Oils do serve a purpose in conditioning hair treatments though. They help add shine and smooth the hair cuticle to lock-in moisture and improve combability. Scalp massages alone won’t cure hair loss, but it can help relax you, aid in lymphatic drainage, exfoliate and help topicals penetrate.
