One viewer said: “I knew it. Solo skating, great performance. Michaela Strachan is our first female Dancing on Ice winner in 12 years.”
Another said: “Michaela was excellent. One of the best week one performances ever. Everyone else’s scores should be much lower because they didn’t come close.”
Someone else said: “Michaela was incredible!!!!! So much better then I thought she’d be. A real dark horse.”
One other added: “I give Michaela and Mark an 8.5. THIS WAS EXCEPTIONAL!
“The speed, the flow, the coverage of the ice, the transitions, the extensions into the finger tips, the pizazz, YOU ARE THE ONE TO BEAT!”
Michaela was praised by the judges with legendary skater Jayne Torvill telling her: “That routine had everything. I loved the unison you have together – perfect”, while Ashley added: “Well done, you have set the bar! I love it.”
Meanwhile, at the other end of the leaderboard, Hollyoaks star Chelsee Healey scored just 22 points out of 40.
Fans said she was under-scored by the Dancing on Ice judges.
Chelsee looked disappointed after failing to win over the experts in the first episode of the new series.
Despite giving an “energetic” performance, Chelsee marks didn’t measure up – prompting jeers from the audience.
Her co-star Ferne McCann was awarded 4.5 points higher than Chelseee leaving some fans furious.
