Premiere of Meghan’s new Netflix show delayed due to California wildfires
The release of Meghan Markle’s new show on Netflix will be delayed due to the impact of the wildfires in California, the streaming platform has announced.
With Love, an eight-part series, was due to premiere on Wednesday but will now come out on March 4.
A recently released trailer shows the Duchess of Sussex meeting friends and cooking food at the home in Montecito which she shares with her husband Prince Harry.
In a statement, she said: ‘I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California.’
It was recently reported that the couple’s home neighbourhood, located on the coast west of Los Angeles, is among those that are facing evacuation orders due to the rapidly spreading fires.
Their $14.65 million Montecito mansion is believed to be located in one of the parts of Santa Barbara County where electricity has been cut off.
Earlier this week, Harry and Meghan published a list of organisations offering support to those affected on their official website, Sussex.com.
They also encouraged people to offer a ‘safe haven’ in their home to a ‘friend, loved one or pet’ who have had to flee the flames.
California Governor Gavin Newsom said earlier today the wildfires could become the worst natural disaster in US history.
In an interview on NBC, he said: ‘I think it will be in terms of just the costs associated with it, in terms of the scale and scope.’
Currently, 16 people are known to have died due to the fire, but Newsom warned that ‘there’s likely to be a lot more’.
Mel Gibson, Paris Hilton, and Billy Crystal are among the Hollywood stars whose homes have been destroyed.
A description of With Love on Netflix companion site Tudum said: ‘Produced by Meghan, With Love, Meghan blends practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old.
‘Meghan shares personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection, and highlights how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected.
‘She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same.’
