‘There’s nothing I can do but cry myself to sleep’: Abdul Razak Alhassan releases first comments after scary UFC Vegas 101 loss
Abdul Razak Alhassan has released his first statement after getting brutally knocked out at UFC Vegas 101.
The middleweight contest between Alhassan and Cesar Almeida served as the featured bout of the first UFC event of 2025, which took place at UFC APEX in Las Vegas. After hurting Almeida, Alhassan went for the finish, but was then knocked unconscious by Almeida just over four minutes into the contest.
Alhassan addressed the scary loss on his Instagram story.
“I’m sorry fans, I got greedy, and I got caught,” Alhassan said. “No excuse. I’m sorry to my fans — my true fans. I got greedy, went for it, and got caught. There’s nothing I can do but cry myself to sleep.”
During the broadcast, it was noted that Alhassan was out on the canvas for an extended period of time, but the 14-fight UFC veteran was able to find his way to the stool before they officially announced Almeida as the winner. Alhassan is now winless in his past three contests, which includes a bizarre no-contest against Cody Brundage at UFC Denver this past July.
Almeida bounced back from his lone pro MMA loss to Roman Kopylov at UFC 302 this past June with back-to-back victories over Alhassan and Ihor Potieria.
