The Nation's Weather
The Nation's Weather for Sunday, January 12, 2025
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A burst of snow will move through the Midwest and western
Great Lakes today leading to slow, slippery travel. Across
the Southeast, lingering snow on the ground combined with
areas of freezing fog can lead to icy spots, especially
early in the day. Along the Gulf coast, a few morning
showers will be replaced by steadier rain late in the day
and overnight. There can be a spotty rain or snow shower in
the interior Northwest. In Southern California, another
round of strong winds are expected in the typical Santa Ana
spots. Winds can gust between 30-50 mph and combined with
low relative humidity, can elevate the fire danger and make
fire containment challenging. In the northern Plains, a
gusty breeze will allow for another blast of Arctic air to
move in. Meanwhile, cool air will linger through much of the
nation.
