Round 1
Leg kick by Dern on an advancing Ribas. She’s going to her kicks early. Dern lands a 1-2. Leg kick by Dern, but Ribas catches her with a quick two-punch combo. Those leg kicks from Dern are landing. Right hand scores for Ribas. Body kick by Dern. There’s the shot by Dern and she gets Ribas down with half a round to work.
Ribas going with closed guard. Neither fighter able to land much offense, they’re staying close on the ground. Dern looking to posture up, but Ribas is keeping that guard closed shut. They’re just smushed up against the fence.
Not much to score damage-wise, but slight edge to Dern after five minutes.

Round 2
Dern opens with leg kicks again. Early takedown attempt by Dern, Ribas stuffs it and scrambles to get on top. Dern active from bottom, they’re working to establish position. It looks like Ribas got cut by an elbow from Dern.
Ribas now in Dern’s guard. Dern’s hips don’t stop moving, they’re both expending a ton of energy. Dern gets a knee between her and Ribas, but Ribas is staying heavy and getting some ground-and-pound going. More elbows from bottom by Dern.
Dern comfortable working from bottom, not sure how the judges will see this. Ribas is scoring occasionally. Omoplata by Dern creates a scramble situation, now they’re in a serious tangle on the mat.
Dern controlling Ribas’ left arm, then she grabs Ribas’ right arm from behind. And out of that, Dern gets a sweep! That looked cool.

Round 3
Ribas charges right into a jab. Good counter right by Ribas. She’s getting her strikes going as Dern circles. Takedown attempt by Dern, great defense by Ribas as they end up wrestling against the fence. Short knees inside from both fighters as they battle for underhooks.
Trip by Ribas and she gets on top. Dern back to work from full guard. Ribas with smart control as she slips in ground-and-pound. Dern going for elbows off her back. Armbar attempt by Dern.
Ribas just keeping Dern stacked up. Knees to the butt by Ribas. Unique offense. She avoids the armbar, but Dern gets the sweep and she’s on top with a minute to go.
Dern lets go of the arm and transitions to mount. Ribas controlling her head, not letting her posture up. Dern mixing in ground-and-pound as she targets the arm. Ten seconds to work.
That arm is straightened and Dern gets the tap! Whoa!
