Are Blake Lively & Anna Kendrick Feuding on The Set of A Simple Favor 2? Director Weighs In
On the heels of the tumultuous back and forth between It Ends With Us co-stars Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, many are alleging that Lively has another feud brewing with another co-star. Sadly, we know that the It Ends With Us drama went into the legal world, making that feud something more disturbing than on-set friction. However, people have alleged that Lively has another on-set feud with A Simple Favor co-star Anna Kendrick. So, is this true? Well, the director, Paul Feig, has something to say about that.
One X user claimed that the reason A Simple Favor 2 was shelved was because of an on-set feud between Lively and Kendrick. They said, “BREAKING: Amazon shelves A Simple Favor 2 indefinitely. Despite glowing test screenings, Blake Lively’s refusal to promote—amid her messy legal battle with Justin Baldoni—and growing tensions with Anna Kendrick have derailed the sequel. Anna is furious. Paul Feig is disappointed. Hollywood is in shock.”
Now, director Feig quickly responded to these claims, saying on X, “This is total BS. Sorry. The movie is finished and coming out soon. Don’t believe anything you read on social media these days.”
The long-awaited sequel was confirmed to happen in 2022, and is expected to release sometime this year. The first film, A Simple Favor was about a single-mom named Stephanie (Kendrick) meeting a secretive, posh woman named Emily (Lively). After she disappears, she tries to find out what’s going on. It came out in 2018 and became a hit.
The sequel follows the same gals who go to Italy for Emily’s wedding.
So it seems the movie will continue to be released this year. However, fans have another question.
Are Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively Still Feuding?
While we know an alleged feud isn’t the cause for any disruptions, that doesn’t necessarily mean the two aren’t feuding. Hollywood feuds happen all the time, but are Kendrick and Lively feuding?
Fans definitely think they’re feuding. These feud rumors didn’t just start this year, they’ve been following them for years. In April 2021, a TikToker talked about a report that claimed the two “were not speaking,” “they were basically enemies,” and “their press tours had to be booked separately.”
Allegedly, a member of the studio said this was true, but neither star commented on it. In fact, the two seemed pals in interviews. In an interview with Buzzfeed, Kendrick even said, “It was great to have that kind of partner-in-crime vibe with you.”
Along with that, back in 2024, insiders told Life & Style that the pair allegedly “managed to put aside their personality differences,” and Lively is working to end any feuds. “Blake has now had the biggest direct hit of her career with It Ends With Us but she’s not going to let herself be permanently painted as the villain every project she does going forward. In fact, she is pushing back against that strongly and making sure her real allies know just how much they are valued.”
