Ja Morant Leaked New Colorways of His Nike Sneakers: ‘Let Me Be Ja’ & ‘Ja Raffe’
Ja Morant took to social media Sunday to announce he would start leaking his own shoes and a week later, the NBA superstar is making good on his promise.
Morant shared on his Instagram story Friday two PE versions of his signature Nike Ja 2 sneakers along with an Air Force 1 featuring his logo.
First up was the “Let Me Be Ja” Ja 2 and its matching Air Force 1 Low counterpart. The two sneakers feature identical black-and-yellow color blocking with patent leather Swoosh logos. The inner medial side of both the Ja 2 and Air Force 1 reads “let me be Ja.” The heel debossing of the Air Force 1 is the first time Morant’s logo has been featured on a Nike lifestyle sneaker.
For his second leak of the day, Morant debuted something more playful: a Nike Ja 2 “Ja Raffe” PE. The colorway is inspired by a giraffe named after Morant which was once housed at the Memphis Zoo — but now resides at Utah’s Hogle Zoo. The sneaker features a spotted brown upper with pink accents on the Swoosh and outsole, making for one of the more eye-catching Nike Ja 2 styles yet.
Despite the new leaks, it’s not clear if any of the pairs previewed by Morant will be released at retail or if they will remain exclusive to the Memphis Grizzlies star.
One recently leaked Nike Ja 2 sneaker that does appear destined for a retail launch is a mismatched colorway in collaboration with Kool-Aid. After it appeared in early photos last week, Morant responded by saying he would begin leaking his shoes himself. That pair is expected to be released in May for a retail price of $130.
Next up for the Nike Ja 2 is a Valentine’s Day-themed “Heart Eyes” colorway scheduled to hit stores on Feb. 7. Then, on Feb. 14, the sneaker will arrive in a $550 Swarovski collaboration which is limited to 1,999 pairs.
