Man in custody after deadly stabbings that killed teen in the Bronx: NYPD
THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – A man is in custody after two unprovoked stabbings in the Bronx, police say.
The most recent of the two incidents was a 14-year-old who was stabbed and killed on Friday just before 9:30 a.m. The teen was on the sidewalk at East 138th Street and Lincoln Avenue when he was randomly stabbed twice in the chest, according to authorities.
The 14-year-old was taken to the hospital but did not survive the attack.
On Sunday a 38-year-old man was walking down the stairs at the 3 Av - 138 St subway station in the Bronx when he was randomly approached from behind and stabbed in the left arm, police say.
Photos and videos of the man wanted in connection with the two stabbings were sent to the cellphones of all NYPD officers, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny.
An officer assigned to the transit bureau identified a man, saying he appeared to be connected to the Jan. 5 incident, and notified detectives.
Police say they have a person of interest in custody and believe he’s involved in both unprovoked stabbing incidents.
