Tottenham’s ‘decisive day’ in Randal Kolo Muani deal didn’t seem to go to plan
There continue to be twists and turns in the Randal Kolo Muani saga, but the latest update from Italy suggests that Juventus are ahead of Tottenham in the race.
Tottenham one of three clubs in Randal Kolo Muani race
Plenty of Spurs fans got excited when it emerged a couple of days ago that the Lilywhites were on the verge of finalising an agreement with Kolo Muani and were hopeful of finalising a deal in a matter of days.
However, it then emerged from Italy that the 26-year-old had also said ‘yes’ to Juventus when the Bianconeri reached out to him.
Subsequently, it has been reported that Kolo Muani was also receptive to Man Utd’s advances when the Red Devils spoke to the striker’s entourage.
A decisive day for Tottenham seems to have been and gone
Journalist Marko Di Natale has claimed on January 9th that it could be ‘a decisive day’ in Kolo Muani‘s future, with the forward taking his time to decide on his next destination.
He revealed that Spurs were ‘working’ on a loan deal with an option to buy for €60m (£50.3m), with Ange Postecoglou‘s men hoping to ‘close the deal as soon as possible’.
Natale claimed that the Tottenham head coach had already spoken to Kolo Muani and assured the striker that he would get game time at N17.
He adds that the Premier League side ‘accelerated’ their pursuit of the French international in an effort to steal a march on the forward’s other suitors.
However, fast forward to January 11th and the same journalist tweeted that Kolo Muani has said yes to Juventus and the Old Lady are locked in talks with PSG. There was no mention of Tottenham.
Juventus allegedly prefer a loan with an option to buy but have not yet reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.
Spurs fans will be hoping Postecoglou’s words do the trick
At this time, Juventus are arguably a more attractive option than Spurs for Muani, given that the Lilywhites do not look likely to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
However, we know that Postecoglou has a way with words and that Tottenham’s transfer targets are often sold on the project after speaking to the Australian. Spurs fans would be hoping that the 59-year-old’s words have had a similar effect on Kolo Muani.
Daniel Levy and co will need to get this done quickly as the longer this saga drags on, the higher the possibility that someone will steal the former Eintracht Frankfurt man from under Tottenham’s noses.
