Homeowner causes controversy with cover which transforms ‘ugly council bin’ – but people say it looked better BEFORE
A COUPLE have divided opinion with a cover that transforms their “eyesore” of an “ugly council bin”.
Ellie and Liam took to Instagram to share their find, which they claimed made the “eyesore” outside their home look more aesthetically pleasing.
And they insisted the “facade hack” works for any house wanting to conceal their wheelie bins outside the front of their houses[/caption]“PSA: you found the solution to ugly council bins,” they wrote over the top of their Instagram video.
The Reel began by showing the bin as it was – a standard khaki green bin with a yellow lid – before showing it with the Luxe Bins metallic taupe cover covering it up.
“Our bins have no where to go except for right next to our front door, and it’s been a bit of an eye sore (I mean so is our entire property at the moment),” they added in the caption.
While they were a “little bit skeptical” about the “facade hack” when they first heard about it, they then got sent a cover to try for themselves.
“And now that it’s on, I really really don’t want to take it off,” they added.
“It’s the perfect finishing touch to our front door transformation.
“I just need to get two more for our rubbish & greens bin!”
The covers aren’t cheap though – and will set you back approximately £80 a pop.
Ellie and Liam also urged people to share their “honest opinions” about the idea, with viewers happily – and wholeheartedly – weighing in in the comments section.
“We’re in a cost of living crisis and I’m getting recommendations for a bloody bin condom?” one raged.
“IMAGINE IT COVERED IN BIN JUICE!” another added.
“What in the love, laugh, live is going on here…?” a third commented.
“It looks worse,” someone else sighed.
“I’ve never once looked at my bin and thought it needed a f**king spacesuit,” another added.
“Solution to a problem that never existed,” someone else said.
“Maybe do some gardening before you vajazzle the bin,” another wrote.
What is a hack for making changing the bin easier?
THERE is in fact a way to make your rubbish-collecting chores far simpler - and it involves using multiple bags.
Want in on the time-saving trick? Here’s what you need to do.
Step 1
Take out a fresh bin liner and open it up – but don’t put it in your bin yet.
Step 2
Take a second bin bag, place it inside the first bag and open it up – so that they’re nestled inside each other.
Continue to do this until 10 bags are neatly inside.
Step 3
Carefully place the entire bin bag fusion inside your bin before folding the tops over the lip.
The next time you fill a bag, simply lift it up out of the bin and another one will be good to go straight away.
There you go! You’ll never change your bin in the same way again.
As someone else said: “Good lord… the bin men are gonna love this!”
“How to make your bin look worse,” another sighed.
“Absolutely the dumbest thing I’ve seen,” someone else insisted.
While another pleaded: “CAN WE NOT MAKE EVERYTHING BEIGE?”
Others were, very slightly, more on board with the product idea, with one writing: “It looks lovely but not very practical!”
“Where do I buy?” another questioned.
“Thanks, you made me love my bin again!” a third said.
