Zousain Filly La Roux Goes Two for Two
Astute trainer Phillip Stokes has a smart juvenile in the stable in fleet footed Zousain filly La Roux, who won easily on debut at Morphettville on Boxing Day and backed it up with another easy victory as a short priced favourite at Murray Bridge on Saturday.
Backed as though unbeatable, she sat outside the leader and kicked away for Lachlan Neindorf to win the 1000m scamper by nearly three lengths and has banked just shy of $80,000 in her first two starts.

Entered for the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes in February, La Roux has made the perfect start to her career and connections are entitled to be looking towards bigger goals for the talented filly, who was purchased for just $60,000 from the Widden Stud draft at Inglis Premier by Phillip Stokes Racing / Rick Connolly Bloodstock.
The Listed SAJC Cinderella Stakes is a possible target race or a trip to Melbourne for the Blue Diamond lead up races, but how the filly pulls up will tell the tale of which path she follows.
Bred by Widden partnership, La Roux is the fourth winner from Thrill, a winning half-sister by Flying Spur to Group II winner Star of the Seas and stakes-winner Spieth, who were both placed in Group I company.
Widden Stud sold the current yearling from Thrill, a colt by Trapeze Artist, at Magic Millions this week for $90,000 to Proven Thoroughbreds/ Matt Hoysted Racing.
Thrill produced a filly by Jacquinot this year and is now back in foal to Zousain, who had a pleasing sale at Magic Millions with nine yearlings selling in Book 1 at an average $135,556 with his top seller a colt from Velocita that made $270,000 for Grenville Stud when bought by Waller Racing/ Mulcaster Bloodstock.
