Man in critical condition after police shooting in Brooklyn: NYPD
CANARSIE, Brooklyn (PIX11) – A man is in critical condition after being shot by police who say he may have been involved in a convenience store shooting in Brooklyn just moments before.
Police driving in the area around 9:45 p.m. on Friday night say they heard a gunshot go off from inside a store on East 80th Street That's when saw a 50-year-old run outside.
Two officers ran after the man while another two pursued him by car, according to authorities.
Eventually, the 50-year-old ran behind a tree and pointed a gun at police, officials say. Four officers fired their weapons at the man, one of which struck him in the torso.
Police say they rendered first aid until EMS came to take the man to Brookdale Hospital where he’s in critical condition.
Investigators are still working to piece together what may have happened leading up to the incident.
