Eumir Marcial alleges longstanding marital problems as wife goes for legal knockout
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino Olympic medalist boxer Eumir Marcial found himself on the ropes on Saturday, January 11, as news exploded about his alleged infidelity to his wife Princess the day prior, with promises of evidence and ensuing legal action to boot.
The 29-year-old did what he could to defend himself, firing counters in hopes that something would hit and get him out of a sticky spot.
In a 10-minute interview with GMA News, the Zamboangueño star expectedly denied his estranged wife’s bombshell allegations of disloyalty and abuse, saying it was he who was at the receiving end of physical assaults and that he only acted in self-defense.
“She has been doing this to me because I no longer want to stay with her because of her attitude,” he said in Filipino. “I want to make it clear that we’re no longer okay. We keep fighting, she keeps hurting me. We no longer stayed together after the Olympics.”
“That girl they saw in the picture (one alleged Jessa Santos), she’s a friend of mine who’s from Makati. [She was there by] coincidence,” he continued. “There’s no infidelity because [Princess] went to my place and did not see me on top of [Jessa] nor were we doing anything.”
Eumir added that he had hoped to settle the issue privately but was merely preempted by his wife’s online pipe bomb, which has since reached almost 9,000 reactions and 6,000 shares on Facebook as of this writing.
In response to her husband’s winding statements, Princess wrote a reply purposely made short under the advice of her legal team.
“Please, please do remember every word,” she wrote, repeating Eumir’s counterclaims. “I may not be able to disclose evidence for legal purposes, but in God’s perfect time, you will all know.”
Princess also posted multiple times afterward, responding to snippets of Eumir’s interview, each time providing more receipts to refute her husband’s fresh batch of allegations.
Princess’ full, detailed story, however, will be heard first by the courts as she sets out to reveal her entire trove of evidence apparently proving the extent of Eumir’s infidelity, threats, and unauthorized use of what appears to be the couples’ joint funds, among other alleged offenses.
Princess and Eumir tied the knot on October 28, 2021, just two months after Eumir skyrocketed to fame with his first career Olympic bronze medal from the Tokyo Games. – Rappler.com
