Predicted Tottenham XI to face Tamworth FC – Alfie Dorrington starts
Tottenham will be hoping to build on their 1-0 win against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup when they take on Tamworth at the Lamb Ground Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup. Let’s take a look at our predicted Tottenham XI to face Tamworth.
Predicted Tottenham XI to face Tamworth
Goalkeeper – Antonin Kinsky – Postecoglou already let slip that Kinsky will start between the sticks to get him up to speed in England (Football London). This is especially the case since the Czech league ended a few weeks ago, meaning Kinsky has been a dormant goalkeeper for the best part of a month.
Right-back – Pedro Porro: Porro has looked really impressive in his last two games, which has greatly benefited Spurs. With little to no alternative options available, he should continue on the right.
Centre-back – Alfie Dorrington: Given Tottenham’s stretched defence, the FA Cup presents Ange Postecoglou with an opportunity to rest some of his main starters. He has also hinted that he would like to give Gray a break, so Dorrington is expected to make his full Tottenham Hotspur debut.
Centre-back – Radu Dragusin: Ange would love to give Dragusin a break from 90 minutes of football, so hopefully he only has to play between 45 and 60. Unfortunately, there are no real other rotation options at centre-back right now.
Left-back – Sergio Reguilón: Once an outcast, Reguilón’s brief appearances have shown that he is more than capable of putting in a shift for this side. With more regulars needing a rest, he could well slot into the defence.
Pivot midfielder – Lucas Bergvall: Bergvall should retain his position in the XI on Sunday after his impressive outing against Liverpool. This means Bissouma will likely be handed a rest.
Central midfielder – Pape Matar Sarr: Postecoglou was forced to give Sarr a rest last time out due to his suspension. With the midfielder now available for selection, we expect him to slot right back into the midfield.
Central midfielder – James Maddison: Maddison was unavailable for selection in the game against Liverpool and came off the bench against Newcastle in Spurs’ league game. He should now be well-rested and fit enough to start here.
Striker – Will Lankshear: Up front, we expect to see young striker Lankshear, a player who is no stranger to starting in cup games. He has already featured this season against Galatasaray, a game in which he scored.
Right midfielder – Yang Min-Hyeok: On the right, Tottenham fans should get their first glimpse of new signing Yang Min-Hyeok. He appears to be match-ready, as he was on the bench in the clash against Liverpool.
Left midfielder – Timo Werner: On the left, Werner should replace Heung-min Son, who we believe will be given a rest here. This means Werner will be the senior attacker in the side.
